January 1, 2012 . . . a good day to start a new year and a new life. The idea dawned on me during last summer, but I didn't dare. Follow my dreams? Do what I love? Here's crazy: I have a bachelor's degree, a teaching credential and a master's degree - it's silly to deviate from academia given the dollars and time spent . . . yet, at the end of the day, deciding to combine hobby + purpose + career = a winning equation.
